Pattaya is a tourist destination rich in architectural and historical landmarks and sights which are well worth exploration during the vacation.

The most stunning structure in Pattaya is the Sanctuary of Truth.  The sanctuary is an all-wood building filled with sculptures based on traditional Buddhist and Hindu motifs. The top of the building is 105 meters high, and the building covers an area of more than 3200 Sq Mts. It features contemporary Visionary art based on traditional religious themes. The project was initiated in 1981, and is scheduled to be complete in 2050.


Mini Siam is a famous miniature park attraction in Pattaya. In the park, tourists will find the miniatures of various landmarks and sights of world significance among which there are the Eiffel Tower, the Tower Bridge, the Kremlin and various famous Thai churches and temples. All the wonders of the world are depicted here.

The Wat Yansangwararam complex will be of great interest for those tourists interested in local history and culture. The complex presents a scenic valley surrounded with high mountains. One of the mountains keeps the image of Buddha being the largest in the world with the height of about 160m. This is exactly the place of a scale open air museum named Wihan Sian. Its exposition numbers over several hundreds of sculptures. These sculptures were a present to Pattaya from China allies as a symbol of gratefulness, acknowledgement and friendship. Among the sculptures, tourists will find the figures of warriors and genuine Pekingese lions, outstanding artists and cultural figures, persons of influence and sophists which take a larger part of the museum. A rich collection of pictorial art masterpieces are presented in the building of the museum.


One of Pattaya’s most noticeable landmarks is the 130 meters high Buddha Mountain. A huge golden Buddha image is depicted on the mountain, which is also called Khao Cheejan and can be seen from miles away. The Buddha image that is officially called Phra Phuttha Maha Wachira Uttamopat Satsada was created in 1996 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s accession the the throne. During the Vietnam War the Thai Army used Khao Cheejan mountain for its mining efforts. The stones were used at U-Tapao airport, which was at the time an American army base. After the war mining continued for construction purposes until 1976. The Buddha image was carved out of the rock using laser technology. After that, it was inlaid with gold leaf, a process that took months to complete. The impressive Sukhothai era Buddha image is 130 meters high and 70 meters wide, making it one of the biggest Buddha images in the world. Buddha Mountain, which is also called Khao Cheejan or Khao Chee Chan, is set in beautifully landscaped gardens. There is a number of salas (open pavilions) and pools filled with lotus flowers giving the place a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere.

Pattaya guests should necessarily visit the Buddha Hill where an 18m statue of the idol is located. A small temple is placed near the statue. All the visitors can look into the temple to bring offerings to Buddha. The top of the hill is equipped with several spacious observation grounds offering a vibrant view over the scenic suburbs of Pattaya. The suburbs of the resort keep several significant spots of tourist attraction as well. Among them tourists will find the Wang Saen Suk Hell Garden. The garden is located on the place of an ancient Buddhist monastery and tells its visitors about old legends of another world.
